The City of Colquitt to Participate in Georgia Initiative of Community Housing The City of Colquitt has been selected to participate in the Georgia Initiative of Community Housing. Colquitt is one of three other cities throughout the State of Georgia receiving this recognition. Debra Atkinson, Executive Director of the Community Development Corporation of Southwest Georgia (CDC) was instrumental in completing the application process and will coordinate the undertaking.
The Georgia Initiative of Community Housing is a three year program designed to assist communities in finding solutions to housing needs. The Community will partner with the Department of Community Affairs, the Georgia Municipal Association, and the University of Georgia in this endeavor.
A local housing team has been formed to include representatives from the CDC, city, county, chamber, and other interested citizens. This committee will travel to workshops and training sessions relating to solutions to housing needs and learn how other community’s housing needs are being met around the state.
