The Community Development Corporation of Southwest Georgia The CDC of SW Georgia includes Colquitt-Miller County as well as contiguous counties (Baker, Decatur, Early, and Seminole). The Community Development Corporation of Southwest Georgia has been in existence since 1997 and is considered a grassroots organization. Through the close working relationship with community citizens, and a daily realization of the lack of adequate housing and job needs in the area, various community stakeholders, which includes the Miller County Government, the City of Colquitt Government, Colquitt/Miller County Chamber of Commerce, and the Colquitt/Miller Arts Council, came together to create and support the CDC in order to assist in the growth and economic development of its community, as well as surrounding counties.
In 2004, it became evident that the CDC of Southwest Georgia could not progress on just the efforts of dedicated volunteers. Therefore, the Board of Directors made the decision to hire full-time Executive Director, Mrs. Debra Atkinson.
